OK, can someone tell me why this article about the recent addition of 80 acres to the Northwestern Illinois Agricultural Research and Demonstration Center in Monmouth was printed in the Aledo Times Record, and why this article about the new Monmouth underage club AfterDark was printed in the Galesburg Register-Mail?  Better question … why was there nothing in the Review Atlas regarding these rather newsworthy local events???

  1. Matt, this is Matt Hutton, editor of the Daily Review Atlas. I appreciate your blog and normally your kind comments about the work we do. I saw this post and just wanted to respond. The AfterDark club story I have covered several times, and the piece run in the Galesburg Register-Mail was a rerun of a story I had done much earlier on the club. As for the research farm, there’s an open house at the end of the month at the facility I’m planning to go out and cover. It’s just a matter of timing about when things have run in our sister papers, not that we didn’t deem them newsworthy.

  2. I appreciate your input, Matt. I recognize that the RA has previously covered the AfterDark opening, but, IMO, the actual opening of the club was worth at least a mention somewhere. Perhaps that’s redundant.

Regarding the research farm, I see that the article ran again in the “Farmer’s Forecast” special edition pull-out distributed with the 3/22 print edition of the RA.
